If we look at nearly all athletic movement- running, throwing, kicking, punching, jumping and all stick sports, we see that there is a similar cross lateral pattern in the body. Those who have the best coordination and rhythm, regardless of strength, produce the most power and use the least effort. And yet we see many athletes and fitness industry using strength & conditioning programs, and don’t train coordination.
When we look at athletic development, most professional athletes are phenomenal without doing classical “strength training”. Most young (under 18) athletes just play games. Which is a continuous practice of awareness, coordination and rhythm.
There’s learning from exploring all movement disciplines.
At the end of this clip are two similar coordination sequences i am playing with. Introduced by @fightingmonkey_rootlessroot who has contributed a vastness to my perspectives and practices of athletic development.

Seriously this shit used to scare me. And it still does. I’m obsessed with the exploration of my unexplored movement worlds. And what I’ve found by going to places like @themonkeyvault is that there are so many people that have crazy knowledge and happy to help.
What scares you?
