Andrew Parr Bio

Andrew was born on April 17th 1983, in London, Ontario, Canada. Andrew was always involved in sports and at age 8 he began to play golf and begin his mission to become the World's best golfer!

At age 12 his father, David, died, leaving his mother, Debbie, to raise not only Andrew but brother, Bryan and sister, Lindsay too. Later, Debbie went on to marry, Robbie Nash, whom has played a significant and heartening role in the upbringing of the entire family.

For Andrew sports- especially golf and hockey-were his main priorities and passions. Although he excelled in both arenas, his heart was drawn to golf and eventually the choice between the two had to be made- undoubtedly Andrew chose golf.

In 2001 was the year Andrew- out of 3 AJGA starts- took a 2nd place and penciled in his first Junior win at The AJGA Eastern Canadian Championship. This win put him on the map for U.S. College recruiting and this was where his Alma Mater, Texas A&M (Aggies), came into the mix.

Parr visited Texas A&M and knew instantly that it was a perfect fit. It also didn't hurt that the climate had a little more tolerable winters, they had a great coaching staff, unfathomable school spirit and nothing but the right tools for an aspiring athlete to become the best he could be.

The highlight of Andrew's collegiate career was building the program to be one of the top-ten golf programs in the Nation. His last three years at A&M, The Aggies were highly competitive at the NCCA Championships. His individual achievements All-Big 12 Conference honors in his senior year he added the one thing all college athletes strive for- All-American status!

Andrew graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing. Post-graduation, for the first time, Andrew was able to dedicate himself to golf full-time and put all efforts on achieving his dream.

Andrew has worked intensely with long-time swing coach, Dave Woods, out of Angus Glen, Ontario. Where he developed a swing that can hold up under any circumstances and a short game that can be tested against the best in the world. Evidently, the work with Dave has paid off over the years with two Ontario Amateur titles (2004, 2006), a semi-finalist in the 2002 Canadian Amateur, medalist in the 2005 Canadian Amateur, 9th in the medal play portion of 2005 U.S. Amateur and the 2006 British Amateur, and most importantly was a member of the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) Amateur Team for two years where Canada placed second in the Eisenhower World Championships.

The RCGA played a large role in where Andrew is today. They provided him with a world-class team of individuals to help take him to the top. The team included coach, Henry Brunton, Sport Psychologist, Dana Sinclair, and Exercise and Nutrition specialist, Greg Wells. Although Andrew has moved on from his Amateur status he still keeps close contact with this team.

In January 2007, Andrew declared himself a professional, and decided to head west to Arizona for a few Gateway tour events. This proved to be a great decision because he won his first event and his first tournament as a professional!

2007 continued to be a successful year where Andrew competed in two PGA tour events. The John Deere Classic and The Bell Canadian Open. In the Canadian Open he posted one of the lowest rounds of the week and was ranked number one in driving distance.
